Our approach to reducing environmental impacts through concrete measures
If reducing environmental impacts and encouraging more responsible consumption are among your priorities, then this is something we have in common. decoflair is a brand of the NMC group whose corporate principles include commitments related to sustainable development and long-term societal well-being.
Since the 1980s, NMC has implemented early environmental measures within its sector, including the elimination of CFCs (gases that are harmful to the ozone layer) and the recycling of its production waste. Since then, the group has been constantly updating its management and production systems to reduce its environmental impact.
decoflair decorative elements are manufactured in Belgium and Germany and supply mainly European markets, thereby reducing average transport distances within Europe compared with overseas supply chains.
The installation has a production capacity of 3000 MWh/year, which would satisfy the average annual needs of 1,000 Belgian households.
We have a total of 20,000m² of solar panels on the ground and on our rooftops, which is equivalent to approximately 3 (2.8) football pitches.
99% of the water used in the production our decorative elements is recycled and reintegrated into the next production cycle. We thus operate with closed water circuits to minimise our consumption.
100% of collected polystyrene offcuts and production rejects from our extrusion lines are reground and completely reintegrated into our production cycles.
We reduce the environmental impact of our packaging through specific measures, including the use of FSC-certified cardboard boxes.
All of our design elements, produced at our main production site in Eynatten, Belgium are manufactured using electricity from verified renewable energy sources. This electricity is partly generated on-site through our photovoltaic installation and partly supplied by an external provider, whose renewable origin is certified through Guarantees of Origin. Our supplier certifies that 100% of the electricity supplied is generated from renewable energy sources, specifically solar and onshore wind energy in Belgium, in accordance with applicable legislation.
We are committed to "Operation Clean Sweep", whereby we try to eliminate the accidental loss of pellets and powder from our raw materials and thus prevent their introduction into waterways and the sea.
